POC M’s Race Shorts

POC M’s Race Shorts are a practical warm layer for racing. A thin race suit cools down quickly between runs; full-length overtrousers are often more cumbersome to remove at short notice. These shorts combine a tuck-oriented cut with mobility and side access. They are training clothing, not a substitute for a back or hip protector.

Warmth without cumbersome clothing changes

The shorts are worn over the race suit. Full-length zips make removal easier just before a run. Practise handling them with gloves and keep zip tracks clear of snow. A well-prepared routine avoids unnecessary fiddling at the start.

Check the fit in a tuck

The waistband is lower at the front and higher at the back to suit the race position. Your actual fit still matters: the waistband must not press when bending and your legs must move freely. Try the shorts with the exact layers you wear underneath in training.

Durable material with sensible limits

Reinforced thigh areas help resist wear from equipment. Sharp ski edges can still cause damage. The water-column rating describes the material; it does not guarantee a dry seat indefinitely in wet snow. For longer waits in bad weather, additional overtrousers may be worthwhile.

Who is POC M’s Race Shorts right for?

Our recommendation: useful for regular gate training and as a warm layer that can be removed quickly before racing. Check waistband width and thigh mobility over your race suit in particular. An overly loose size can interfere with skiing, while one that is too tight can restrict your tuck.

Use & selection

Selection: Try them with your race suit and intended base layer. Bend your knees repeatedly and hold the position rather than only standing upright in front of a mirror.

At the start: Open the zips fully so boots and buckles do not pull on the fabric. Keep removed shorts dry and clear snow before the next use.

Care: Close hook-and-loop fastenings on other equipment before packing them together. Clean according to the care label; gently clear dirty zips and never force them closed.

Questions before you buy

Are they worn over or under the race suit?

They are intended as an extra warm layer over the race suit.

Do I need to remove my boots to take them off?

The full-length side zips allow removal with ski boots on.

Are the shorts impact protectors?

No. Reinforcements improve durability; certified impact protection is not claimed here.

How do I choose the size?

Try them with the intended layers and check the waistband, thighs and tuck position in particular.

Are they intended as the only trousers for a full ski day?

They are an additional training layer. Remaining protection from cold and weather depends on the race suit and other clothing.

What does a 5,000 mm water column mean?

It indicates the material’s waterproofness. It does not guarantee prolonged sitting in wet snow or cover every seam and opening.

Why is the waistband higher at the back?

The cut is designed to sit comfortably in the forward-leaning race position.
