HEAD Horizon 5K Race chrome RD + spare lens
The HEAD Horizon 5K Race is aimed at sporty use where line choice and terrain perception matter. An additional lens is especially useful when weather changes between training and racing. The key is to fit the right lens in good time and match the goggles with the actual race helmet.
Technical specifications at a glance
5K technology for reading the course
5K technology is designed to enhance contrast. This can help you read textured snow, but cannot replace an appropriate speed in fog or snowfall. Compare the view through the lens personally rather than choosing solely by its external mirror finish.
An interchangeable lens broadens the possibilities
Speed Snap allows you to fit a different lens. Practise changing it without time pressure and keep the contact surfaces clean. The start gate is not the right place to learn the system for the first time. Check that the lens is fully seated after every change.
A wide field of view requires the right fit
The triple-layer padding and large viewing area help only when helmet and goggles work together. Check your lateral and downward view. The helmet must not push the goggles onto your nose, and ventilation areas must remain clear.
Who is HEAD Horizon 5K Race chrome RD + spare lens right for?
Our recommendation: for sporty skiers and race training in changing conditions, if you prefer a deliberate lens change to automatic tinting. Assess the actual main and spare lenses by their markings before use; the colour name chrome RD alone does not fully describe light filtering.
Use & selection
Before training: Compare weather, light and available lenses. Carry the unused lens protected.
Changing lenses: Follow the manufacturer’s instructions, do not pull or rub the inner surface, and close the locking mechanism fully.
Care: Remove snow gently, allow to dry and store in a suitable pouch or case. Avoid vigorous polishing of the coated inner surface.

Questions before you buy
What does 5K do?
The technology is designed to enhance contrast. It is not automatic tint adjustment.
Is a second lens included?
Yes, the offered version is listed with an interchangeable spare lens.
How is the lens changed?
Using HEAD’s Speed Snap system. Practise the procedure from the instructions before your first training session.
Does it fit every race helmet?
Check with the specific helmet. Nose clearance, forehead interface and an unobstructed field of view are decisive.
Does it tint automatically?
5K alone does not mean photochromic. Here, adaptation to light is supported by selecting the appropriate lens.
What filter category does the set have?
The markings on the main and spare lenses actually supplied are decisive. For a recommendation for specific light conditions, please check this version with us.
What helps prevent fogging?
Clear ventilation, dry storage and care according to the instructions. Anti-fog is not a guarantee for every moisture situation.
