Frequently asked questions
Which Snoli tools do I need to get started?
Start with a stable way to hold the ski and tools for the jobs you plan to do. Wax maintenance needs different tools from edge tuning. We can help assemble a suitable kit without unnecessary duplicates.
What is the difference between a file and a diamond file?
A file is used to remove material and work on the edge. Depending on their grit, diamond files are used for maintenance, deburring or a finer finish. Match the tool and grit to the edge's condition.
Which grit should I choose?
Choose the grit according to the task and finish you need. Coarse and fine tools serve different purposes; the finest grit is not automatically right for every job.
Does every file fit every guide?
No. Compare the length, width and clamping arrangement with the guide's specifications. The working angle also needs to match your existing setup.
What is a sidewall cutter used for?
It works on the sidewall next to the steel edge so the edge tool can work cleanly. It does not replace an edge file and should be used with control.
Can I service my skis at home with Snoli tools?
Yes, provided the work area, ski support and tools suit the task and you know how to use them. Our workshop can help with major base damage or uncertainty about edge preparation.
What matters when choosing ski vises and service tables?
Look for a stable setup, suitable clamping widths and enough working space. Check model compatibility for accessories; an attachment for one table does not automatically fit another.
